This video outlines the use and care for the AEROECLIPSE XL Breath Actuated Nebulizer. A nebulizer is a medical device designed to convert liquid medication into an aerosol or mist which can be inhaled directly into the lungs. It is intended to administer prescribed medication as directed by a licensed healthcare professional. Please ensure you have read all of the nebulizer instructions for use before starting your treatment. Introducing the AEROECLIPSE XL Breath Actuated Nebulizer from Trudell Medical International. Trudell Medical International is a global leader in the development of innovative aerosol drug delivery devices for patients around the world – so they can breathe easier. Before you begin your treatment, take a moment to review the Owner’s Manuals for your nebulizer and compressor. Make sure you have cleaned your nebulizer and washed your hands. With breath actuated delivery, aerosol is only produced when you inhale. This means medication is not wasted between breaths and allows for breaks, so you control your aerosol treatment. When you take a breath, the Green Feedback Button on the top of the device will lower. When the Green Feedback Button is down, aerosol is being produced. When you stop inhaling or are taking a break from your treatment, the Green Feedback Button is up – indicating that no aerosol is being produced. Because aerosol is only produced when you breathe in, the AEROECLIPSE also reduces potentially harmful emissions for a safer home environment. When you are ready to take your treatment, ensure your compressor is on a clean, flat surface like a table top. If you are using a table top compressor, make sure it is plugged in. Here we are using the Ombra Portable Compressor, which is powered by a small Rechargeable Battery – so no electrical outlet is required. Ensure the nebulizer is in Breath Actuated Mode and the Green Feedback Button is up. Visually inspect your nebulizer to ensure the mouthpiece is securely attached with the exhalation valve facing down to ensure exhaled breath is directed away from the face. With the AEROECLIPSE XL secured in the nebulizer cup holder of your compressor, unscrew and remove the nebulizer top. Carefully place your prescribed medication in the nebulizer cup, making sure not to exceed the maximum fill of 6 milliliters. When you have finished adding your medication, reattach the nebulizer top making sure to line up the white cylinder with the stem of the nebulizer cup. Gently press down and rotate the top clockwise until a stop is detected. Holding your nebulizer in one hand, connect the EZ Twist Tubing to the bottom of the nebulizer and the other end to the air outlet on the compressor. In a comfortably seated position, switch on your compressor. Place the mouthpiece in your mouth, ensuring your lips are sealed around the edge. Ensure your lips don’t block the Exhalation Valve on the bottom of the mouthpiece. Inhale slowly and deeply. As you inhale the Green Feedback Button will move down – indicating aerosol is being produced Exhale normally through the device. The exhaled breath will exit through the Exhalation Valve away from your face. Continue taking slow, deep breaths until the medication level becomes low and the device starts to ‘sputter’. This signals that your treatment is complete. Return your nebulizer to the compressor’s nebulizer cup holder and switch off your compressor. If you are using the AEROECLIPSE XL Breath Actuated Nebulizer with a Comfort Seal Mask, remove the mouthpiece and insert the elbow adapter into the opening. We recommend the nebulizer be used in Continuous Mode when it is used with a mask. To do this, simply rotate the Mode Selector switch on the top of the device to the solid triangle. Place the mask securely over the nose and mouth, ensuring you have a good seal around the edge of the mask and face. Inhale slowly and deeply – and exhale normally through the device. The exhalation valve on the mask will open as you breathe out. If condensation appears in your EZ Twist Tubing, allow the compressor to run without the nebulizer attached. This will force air through the tubing, drying the inside. To clean the exterior, wipe with a damp cloth. To clean your AEROECLIPSE XL Breath Actuated Nebulizer – first ensure it is in Breath Actuated Mode. Your nebulizer should be cleaned before first use and between each treatment. Disassemble the nebulizer into its three parts – the nebulizer top, bottom and mouthpiece. Wash the three parts in a solution of warm water and liquid dish soap for about 5 minutes and then rinse in clean warm water. The AEROECLIPSE XL BAN may also be washed in a dishwasher by securing the nebulizer parts in a basket on the top rack. Your nebulizer should also be disinfected at least every other treatment day. The AEROECLIPSE XL BAN may be disinfected using any of these methods. Ensure your nebulizer is completely dry before reassembling it and storing in a dry, dust-free place. Store all of your nebulizer components together. The AEROECLIPSE XL Breath Actuated Nebulizer is the only small volume jet nebulizer to create aerosol when you need it – allowing for breaks in treatment without drug loss – helping to put you in control of your therapy.
