Hello & Welcome to Health Mantra. With high pollution and dust many of us whether
young or old have a difficult time breathing… It all begins with a cough or a wheeze and
soon the chest tightens making the person feel shortness of breathe. This condition is called an Asthama and a
severe bout of it an Asthmatic attack. So, what is Asthama ? Asthma is a condition in which airways in
our lungs narrow and swell and produce extra mucus leading to difficulty in breathing. For some people, Asthma is a minor nuisance. For others, it can be a major problem that
interferes with daily activities and may lead to a life-threatening asthma attack. But what causes Asthama ? The exact cause of Asthama is yet not known
but there are certain risk factors that are associated with asthma. These factors includes Allergens from dust,
animal fur, cockroaches, mold, and pollens, Irritants such as cigarette smoke, air pollution,
chemicals or dust, medicines such as aspirin, respiratory infections like cold and physical
activity including exercise. If you have Asthama, What is the treatment
? Asthma can’t be cured, but its symptoms can
be effectively controlled. This is where inhalers, the primary treatment
for Asthama comes in. These are of 2 types- Reliever and Preventer. In case of an Asthama attack, you need a reliever,
which immediately relaxes the muscles surrounding the narrowed airways, thereby giving instant
relief to the patient. While Preventer reduces the amount of inflammation
and ‘twitchiness’ in the airways and prevent asthma attacks from triggering in the first
place. Can something be done to prevent Asthama ? While there’s no way to prevent asthma by
working with your doctor you can design a step-by-step plan for living with this condition
and preventing Asthma attacks. This plan may include getting vaccinated for
influenza and pneumonia to prevent triggering of Asthma, Identify and avoid the causes that
worsens the condition. Regular exercise including building ones capacity
to breathe and yoga prove effective again this condition. For more interesting videos, Subscribe to
