  1. OMI GOD!!!!! IV BEEN TRAINING MY DOG (hes 9 years old and im doing an experiment if he can still learn tricks) AND I DID THAT LAY DOWN COMMAND THE WAY YOU DID IT WITHOUT KNOWNING IZt

  2. "How to Dog Training"do you even basic grammar mate
Edit: I really have no hate Dr Mike but he misspelled a word so I made this just for fun 😉

  3. Here is a tip
Do everything first then pay attention to your dog
    Child:Dad is home!!!!!
Dad meets everybody then meets the dog
Like if this was a good example

  4. so cute! i taught my dog ´double-paw´. it´s sort of your ´hug´, but she puts both of her paws in my hands. (and we dance around) 😉

  5. I'm only thirteen (9 maybe at the time) and I thought my dog paw, high five, lay down, roll over, sit, wait and speak!! Pretty happy with myself and her of course! Awe I love her so much she's such a cutie!! She's a cavachon, she's currently 9 but will be 10 in October and her name is holly:)

  6. Um but what if u have a pit bull?(they are stubborn)My dog is a pit and she is SUUUUPPPPEEERRR stubborn and I dont have alot of patience (no one in my house has much patience we should probably work on that)

  7. For the speak trick: many dogs react to the noise of other dogs barking or crying or sirens. You can turn on YouTube videos of these sounds to initiate the sound. And slowly transition to them to doing it without the audio!!

  8. Hi, im trying to convince my friend to let my godson have a dog as he is an only child and I think it would be really good for him. Can you do or do you have a video that explains the benefits of an only child having a dog? Thank you x

  9. She's an adorable dog and really well behaved, but there are even better methods of training a dog without getting physical at all. I kinda had to cringe when you showed how to train the leave signal and nudged her neck. Dr. Mike, your dog is not a puppy and you are not a dog mother nor any kind of dog 😉 I just can advice anyone who's looking for great training advice to go to the kikopup channel here on YouTube.

  10. @Doctor Mike
Im thinking about getting a service Dog but I an afraight to be a bad dogowner… =/ soo I realy want to know
Dr Mike what is your take on Service Dogs? And especialy for PTSD- Service Dogs ? Do you belive one who has ptsd can still be a good dog owner and be "the boss" ? Or is it harmful to the dog to have a owner with mental illness?
How do I know if I can be a good owner?
Thanks for the Information =) bear is adorable ! ^^ roxy is cool ^^

  11. 4:56 my cousins dog used to do that to me with absolutely no training. From the second id step out of the car he'd run up to me and give me a hug like that. He would do this while i was standing and he was just as tall as i was. Sadly they don't have him anymore😢

  12. I'm planning that when I get a dog I'll use this tips cuz the last time I had a puppy German shepherd I wasn't able to train it properly so my mom decided to give it to one of my dads friend. Miss him still😔❤️

  13. If you turn on
auto generate captions – English and go to 4:28 it says Roxy is a very energetic bi*** hahah.
Roxy is very cute indeed. <3 <3

  14. I have a shiba inu named Nova. She helps me with my depression and she makes me get out of the house. She is the light of my life.

  15. This is essentially operant conditioning. A very effective method of teaching dogs and it's applicable in humans as well

  16. Have to see to that my cats don't see this video!! Am already trained enough to bring food on their command 🤣🤣🤣

  17. I tried the treat thing, she'd probably take off my hand if I don't give it to her immediately… I AM struggling, she is hyperactive and uncontrollable.. #help

  18. I know I'm late, but I just wanna drop by to say that when you use lure to teach a dog a command, you don't want to start saying the word until after they've mastered the movement. Because if you give the command a name before they understand it, to them, it just turns into words, and not a command. Love the vids, keep it up!

  19. I really want a dog🤩🤗, but my parents won't let me😔😭
    Your channel is amazing😎
    Love from the Netherlands🇳🇱

  20. I’m obsessed! I just found your channel yesterday and I’ve been binge watching ever since. Love from Minnesota!

  21. Oh dear me, Mike, ha ha ha, you clearly are a canine newbie that has barely researched generic dog training techniques. Really, you know nothing beyond the textbook answers for dog behavior. You don't have to be the alpha, or do all of these formal commands. Your dog is not a robot. Ha, there's actually a finesse to communicating with your dog.
Having said that, I'm glad you're a self-learner. Good job. I'll give you a cookie as a reward.

Truth is your dog is in good hands. You'll do well, newbie. That's a happy dog in a good home.

  22. I had a dog growing up that we could say, “Show me your boobies!” And she would roll over on her back lol

  23. Thx Dr. Mike! I'm thinking of getting a service dog when I move out on my own. This video is very helpful.

  24. Here I am searching for dog training tips…. WHAT! Dr. Mike?? Apparently there's some old content I didn't know about.

  25. I’m so impressed on how well you speak for someone who immigrated from Russia! I honestly didn’t even know you were from Russia until I saw more of your videos

  26. This is VERY outdated training philosophy and advice. It’s like a doctor saying today that smoking isn’t bad for you the way they did 50 years ago. Why not set up a collab video with amazing dog trainer Andrea Arden who is local to NYC and incredibly well respected by the best dog trainers of TODAY! 😊💕🐶 It’s wonderful that you love dogs and I’m sure you don’t want to be perpetuating long disproved facts about dogs and their training.

  27. Hi Dr. Mike, it’s clear that you love your pets and they are very lucky to have you. I am a resident in Veterinary Behavior and doctor to doctor, I wanted to let you know that the dominance theory, alpha, etc has been throughly disproven. Unfortunately the media has really kept this philosophy popular and there is a major cultural fog surrounding it. But the science tells us differently! ‘Correcting’ a dog the way its mother does is also not recommended, and can lead to anxiety, stress, and fear. Even very mentally healthy dogs show more stress signals around their parents when aversive and punishment based techniques are used. You can find some great, science based information at I know we all want our pets as physically and mentally healthy as possible. Thanks for your great work, from your friendly neighborhood Pet Psychiatrist!

  28. I will definitely use these tips to train mine and my boyfriends new puppy we got. Which actually, this new puppy I’m looking into making him a emotional support animal, due to having high generalized anxiety, depression and Bipolar Disorder.

I actually have 2 other dogs as well lol. They just know sit, shake, high five, lay (sometimes 😒) and stay. The only thing with them now, is while we eat our food they put their paws on our laps, just waiting for food

  29. What’s your opinion on corgis? I might get one when I’m fourteen so I’m really excited even though that’s in 3 years 🙂

  30. Wow you made huge progress in terms of how you talk to the camera. This video was almost uncomfortable to watch

  31. I had a blast training my German Shepherd as a pup, they love to be trained. She can sit, shake hands, give high-five, and will even "fist bump" me with her nose, so stinking cute :). I also taught her to "hug" on command, to get her to stop spontaneously jumping up on me on her own. Now she sees it as a command and only does it when she thinks there is a treat possibly involved. Which is a good thing, because she could knock me down these days if I weren't ready for it, lol!

  32. I taught my dog how to play dead now when I do the signal of a gun and I bend my thumb she knows it is play dead so since I always leave a red blanket on the floor she grabs is and places it on top of her literally taking the word play dead to seriously.

How to teach my dog how to search… Play hide and seek with them it works for me but she finds my food instead of hers.. she ate my Apple! My last apple!

  33. You should be able to tell your dog a command and them do the command without a treat or a toy readily available and with many distractions. Most dogs can not do this.

  34. Great video! Love your dog! 😍
Little suggestion: The command "lay" should not be trained with a sitting dog. The dog must be able to lay immediately from a standing position.

  35. The play dead command is actually useful. As a scenario if Roxy needs to be on her side for a procedure at the vets we could ask her to play dead rather than putting her in a lateral hold.

  36. your videos are quite enjoyable and informative 🙂 I became acquainted with your channel through your “reaction” videos lol. Cant sleep. so i am up late learning at random how things are made, then thought i should learn how to train my nephew’s dog (or train myself, as Caesar Milan would say) 🤓. When I saw you had a video, i had to watch! Your fur baby is beautiful. I look forward to more of your videos.

  37. My dog knows how to sit, lay down, shake/paw highfive, and fistbump. Im working on getting him to walk with me without a leash and how to speak. (He is blue merle and collie mix)

  38. How can you teach your dog to respond to his name? E.g: When I call my dog (Loki), I want him to come to me or at least turn and look at me.
