October, it is not just the beginning of new uni semester, but also heaps of great projects and events that will help you sweeten the shift from chilled holiday mode to crazy tornado of study obligations. So, let’s check it out. Those who play are okay? Lets see how truthful this saying is. You can try it for yourself during the „Deskohraní“ festival, which takes place from the 4th to the 12th October on the premises of Michna’s Palace of Tyrš House in Prague. Here you can choose from more than 480 games to try. And good news for poor students? From Monday till Wednesday you can play all days long for free! Charles University Faculty of Eduacation will provide its premises on Wednesday the 8th of October to a multi-genre culture and music festival called „Dvorky“. Aside from several czech bands you can expect a slightly geeky accompanying program including readings, vernissage „Na schodech“, LARPs, books and textbooks exchange or „Invisible exhibition“. The nineteenth international festival of contemporary art „4+4 Days in Motion“ will breathe life into unconventional Prague corners in the week from the 10th to the 18th. An extensive program will bring events across genres – from dance and theater, exhibitions, discussions to guided walks. „Studentský Jarmark“ will be October’s second Charles University event, taking place in the afternoon of  Oct 14th. On the Carolinum courtyards  you can enjoy bands such as The Spankers, Eggnoise or Vasilův Rubáš. and several publishing houses and student associations will have their stales there. We have got two October treats for film fans. From 1st to 5th of October you can absorb the captivating atmosphere of Nordic Films in cinema Lucerna during the Nordic Film Autumn festival. Onslaught of German-spoken films will get you from 15th to 19th during the festival Das Film Fest. Do you know how to turn exceptional Prague corners into glowing galleries? Festival of lights called Signal will show you from Thursday 16th to Sunday 19th. For free! In October, Clubbing scene is literally packed with well-known names. We have picked three, that you simply can’t miss out. Danish multi-genre genius and progressive producer Trentemøller will open this month in big style. With his band, combining indie and electronic music with unique visual show will rule the Roxy music club on 2nd October. All true hipsters will be in MeetFactory on 21st of October. You can see there one of the biggest discoveries of the British indie scene of the year 2013, band The 1975. A thunderstorm of guitar riffs and catchy pop melodies will not let you stand still! Moaning and bewitching voice of Israeli singer-songwriter Asaf Avidan resonating with autumnal tone will sound fill the Forum Karlin complex in his Prague premiere on October 25th. Can you see?
