Another type inhaler we use for asthma patients
is what we call a dry powder inhalers. These inhalers are similar to use as a metered dose inhaler, however do not require the use of a spacer. In order to use these, we have the
patient take the cap off the dry powder inhaler. Sometimes they need to be activated by twisting them until we hear a click. Then we have the patient put it in their mouth and use it. When using the dry powder inhaler, the breath in should be strong and the patient should hold their breath after inhaling for a few seconds.
