When Should I Go to the Emergency Room (ER) for an Asthma Attack? – Scott Scherr, MD

Typically, patients with
asthma have a rescue inhaler. If you don’t have
a rescue inhaler and you have continued
shortness of breath, you should seek
medical attention. If you have a rescue
inhaler and you continue to use the
rescue inhaler I would say more than three
times in an hour, you should probably
come to the ER.
